My name is Katie Mathis, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Registered Play Therapist, and Synergetic Play Therapist. Walking alongside families, children, and individuals as they uncover their authentic selves, discover what inspires them, integrate painful memories, build new neuropathways, and grow in greater love - is what inspires me! I get to see the human mind in all its brilliance. I am grateful to each and every child, parent, teen, and adult individual who has allowed me into the journey with them. They are my greatest teachers and inspiration.
My beliefs and methodoloy in my practice are the result of a passion for researching about the mind and brain, combined with a personal interest in learning how to live as an inspired and authentic individual. For years I experienced anxiety without understanding the root and even the brilliance behind it. The more I tried to “manage” it, the more it popped up. But on this path of learning to live in alliance with my authentic self, listening to my mind & body and balancing my perceptions - I could literally feel my body grow lighter as weights fell off and my brain formed new ways of thinking. I also learned how to channel moments of anxiety into a source of strength for that which inspires me. (Our struggles are often our superpowers!) I now love inspiring these shifts in my clients and witnessing their breakthroughs.
When I’m not at INSPIRE, you can find me walking at Wash Park, hiking, camping, giggling at reruns of The Office, reading in front of my fireplace, or drinking tea over a deep discussion.
